Deployment of AutoNaut Vessel

1st October 2021

We recovered a unmanned vessel (That had travelled from Oban in Scotland!) off the coast of Blacksod for maintenance works at the end of September 2021. After the maintenance works were complete we re-deployed the vessel at the start of October for its journey to Wales.

25th September 2021

We recovered a unmanned vessel off the coast of Blacksod for maintenance works at the end of September 2021. The vessel had been at sea for over 60 days and had travelled all the way from Oban in Scotland! After the maintenance works are complete we will re-deployed the vessel.

Bottle Nose Dolphin Survey

At the end of the Summer, we completed our last Bottle Nose Dolphin Survey for the Irish Whale & Dolphin Group! We travelled as far as Erris Head to spot these amazing creatures! Check out our YouTube channel for some videos!

At the beginning of August, we completed our second last Bottle Nose Dolphin Survey for the Irish Whale & Dolphin Group for 2021! We spotted some common dolphins and a couple calves.

Navigation Survey with Valiant Rib in Achill

At the end of July, we travelled all the way to Achill Sound in our fast Valiant Rib to complete a navigation survey in the waters of Achill in glorious weather. We even travelled under Achill Island’s bridge, video coming soon!

We travelled to Eagle Island & Erris Head for a project on Mayo’s Coastline in our Kea Josh. We even managed to spot a few dolphins and seals along the way!

At the end of July, we completed another Bottle Nose Dolphin Survey for the Irish Whale & Dolphin Group! This time not only did we spot bottlenose dolphins, we also spotted two puffins, common dolphins and grey seals. How lucky were we!

Acoustic Release

In July 2021 we took part in a acoustic release for the Irish Whale & Dolphin Group with the Kea Josh our 12m Southboat Catamaran. We were over 8 nautical miles off the coast of Belmullet!

RTE’s Famous Kathyrn Thomas on Inishkea

19th July 2020

In July 2020, RTE’s famous Kathyrn Thomas travelled with us to the Inishkea Islands to record a episode of the famous RTE travel show, No Place Like Home.
